shipping film to Niagara Custom Lab

all students across Canada wishing to send us their films for processing:
We all know that it can be a little nerve racking sending your films across the country to be processed so here are a few tips to ensuring a safe and successful journey for your beloved rolls of film.

advance payment:
Due to an overwhelming response to our special student rates they will remain in effect for now our current student price for processing of 16mm negatives and a print is .37 cents per foot when shipping from out of province you are lucky and only pay the gst of 7 %

so for each........... 100ft roll the total is 39.59
for two rolls.......... 200ft.....................79.18
for five rolls.......... 500ft ....................197.95

note: we cannot process any plastic here but will accept personal cheques or money orders if you figure out the total and include a cheque with your shipment; there will be no delays and your films will get back to you much faster.

shipping thru the mail:
One of the easiest and cheapest ways to send your film to us is with Canada Post's express post system, you can buy prepaid envelopes from the post office which usually reach us within 2-3 days. To speed things up include an additional prepaid envelope inside the shipment so we can ship it right back to you without charging you for extra shipping. It is important to remember to that if we are making a print of your film here the weight and size of the shipment will double so a bigger return envelope or a double amount of stamps might be required. You could also ship regular thru the mail which is a bit cheaper but takes longer and you can't track your package at all.

shipping with a courier:
If you are in a rush and need to get the film to us the next day and/or you need us to ship it back to you the next day the well known couriers like Fed Ex, Purolater, UPS, etc. are a more expensive but quicker way to ship.
When you send films to us using a courier of this type (and hope to have us return shipment in the same way) you must include a fed ex account number inside your shipment in a letter or something outlining that you wish us to use your account or your credit card number for shipment use only.

We also have an account with Fedex so we can ship for you but only if your advance payment includes these extra shipping charges which can be quite steep.

turnaround:
Once the film arrives at the lab it should take no longer then 2-3 days (depending on the project and what requirements the processing and printing jobs have).
If you have not included an advance payment with your films or have not provided us with a means to ship it back to you this will delay the return of your project.
I will then have to contact you to figure out your bill, wait for you to send a cheque, etc..so although this is certainly not a problem for us it sucks for you to have to wait (sometimes an additional week) just to get your film back.
So please keep this in mind when scheduling your printing/processing jobs!

that's all for now!!!
